Showcase Participant Terms

Accepted by clickwrap at entry. Anyone advancing signs a fuller agreement.

3.1 Grant of rights: a licence, never an assignment.

Entrant grants TGI a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable licence to reproduce, distribute, publicly perform, display, excerpt, edit and create derivative works from the Submission, and to use Entrant's name, likeness, voice, biography and image, in and in connection with the Showcase and the promotion and archiving of it, in all media now known or later devised. Entrant retains all ownership of the Submission and of the underlying musical works and sound recordings. This grant expressly departs from and overrides Universal Terms Part 3.2 as to duration and revocability, as the Universal Terms permit, and is itself subject to the TGI Content, Likeness and Promotion Consent, which governs where the two differ.

3.2 Portrayal consent and claim waiver.

Entrant acknowledges that the Submission and Entrant's participation may be edited, juxtaposed, excerpted or presented in a manner Entrant may consider unflattering, disparaging, embarrassing, unfavourable, or that portrays Entrant in a false light, and consents to such use. Entrant waives and releases any claim arising from it, including defamation, false light, invasion of privacy, infringement of the right of publicity, and intentional or negligent infliction of emotional distress. This consent and waiver is subject to Universal Terms Parts 12.1 and 13.3, does not release TGI from liability for TGI's own conduct beyond the editorial presentation consented to here, and does not extend to any statement of fact about Entrant that TGI publishes knowing it to be false or with reckless disregard for its truth.

3.3 Sole discretion, and no obligation to exhibit.

All determinations of eligibility, advancement, elimination and selection are made by TGI and its judges in their sole and absolute discretion and are final and binding. Where audience input is used, it is one input among others and does not by itself determine any result. TGI is under no obligation to publish, exhibit, broadcast or otherwise exploit any Submission. Entry does not guarantee selection, and Entrant shall have no claim at law or in equity in the event that entry results in nothing.

3.4 Assumption of risk and release. Entrant participates voluntarily, assumes the inherent risks of participation, and releases TGI from claims arising from those inherent risks. This release is subject to Universal Terms Parts 12.1 and 13.3, and does not release TGI from liability for TGI's own negligence, wilful conduct, violation of law, or any liability that cannot lawfully be released.

3.5 Waiver of injunctive relief.

Entrant's sole remedy for any breach is an action at law for actual damages, and Entrant waives any right to enjoin, restrain or otherwise interfere with the production, distribution or exploitation of the Showcase. Nothing in this clause waives any right to seek public injunctive relief, which is preserved by Universal Terms Part 15.6, and nothing in it displaces the dispute-resolution procedure at Universal Terms Part 15.

3.6 Independent status.

Entrant participates as an independent entrant and not as an employee, worker, agent, partner or joint venturer of TGI. Entrant controls the time, place, manner and content of the Submission. No compensation other than any prize actually awarded is due.

3.7 Confidentiality, narrowed on purpose. Entrants must not disclose results before their announced reveal, and must not disclose confidential judging material. Entrants are free to discuss their own experience of the Showcase, publicly and at any time. There is no liquidated-damages penalty.

3.8 No option, no holdback, no exclusivity. Entering the Showcase grants TGI no option, right of first refusal, holdback, exclusivity or commission over any entrant's recording, publishing, management, touring or brand income. Any later agreement is separate, post-competition and independently counselled under Part 2.2.

3.9 Truth. Universal Terms Parts 4 and 6 apply in full. An entrant submitting on another's behalf gives the Authorised Representative attestation.

3.11 Production rights, which are taken by a separate signed agreement and not by these Terms. Where an entrant is selected to take part in produced content, TGI owns that produced content outright, the entrant is paid a flat participation fee and credited for what they contributed, and the rights are taken under the TGI Production Participation and Rights Agreement, signed before any production begins. These Participant Terms grant TGI no ownership in any produced content and are not a substitute for that agreement.

The signup gate tells the entrant this before they enter, in the awareness block in the Site Texts, so that nobody discovers it after they have committed.

3.10 Age. It is a two-tier answer. Submission is open to all ages, where a person under 18 submits through a parent or legal guardian who completes the Parent or Guardian Submission Consent. On-camera participation in the production is restricted to those aged 18 or over, or the age of majority where the participant lives, whichever is greater. A Platform account also requires 18 or over. See Part 5 and Universal Terms § 2.1.

The Fee Prohibition

4.1 THE HOUSE RULE. Entry to the Showcase is free of charge.

4.2 The anti-talent-service declaration, which appears in the Showcase terms and on the entry page:

TGI is not a talent agency, a talent-listing service, a talent-counselling service, a talent-training service, an advance-fee talent representation service, an employment agency, a booking agent or a personal manager. TGI does not procure, offer, promise or attempt to procure employment, auditions or engagements for any entrant, and no payment of any kind is required or accepted from an entrant in connection with the Showcase.

4.3 The marketing rule, which is as important as the terms. No TGI communication about the Showcase, anywhere, promises or implies auditions, industry introductions, label or publisher access, management, representation, bookings, placement or career advancement in exchange for entry. The prohibition attaches to the combination of a fee and a career promise. Removing the fee removes the exposure; a stray line of marketing copy can put part of it back if a fee ever exists.

4.4 If a fee is ever introduced, whether for entry, feedback, coaching, listing or priority review, it becomes a fee-related talent service and requires, at minimum, a US$50,000 bond, prescribed contract language, a ten-day cancellation right, and a written counsel opinion that the specific structure escapes § 1702. It also requires the House to survey New York General Business Law article 11, Florida Statutes §§ 468.401 to 468.415, and the Texas talent-services statute, each of which has its own trigger.

Minors

5.1 Age. Submission is open to all ages, on a parent-executed consent. A Platform account, and on-camera participation in any production, are restricted to those aged 18 or over, or the age of majority where the person lives, whichever is greater.

5.1b Why the line sits there, and why it is not a compromise. A submission is Category One material under Production Agreement Part 4.1: TGI takes no ownership, no licence and no claim in it, holds a link rather than a file, and never publishes it, so there is nothing in a minor's submission capable of being disaffirmed and nothing of value to lose. Production is the opposite case. A parent's signature does not prevent a minor disaffirming under Family Code § 6710; only court approval under § 6751 does, and it brings a Coogan blocked trust, an Entertainment Work Permit, a studio teacher and statutory hours with it, per Production Agreement 10.3. A disaffirmable grant inside a production agreement is a hole in the chain of title to every episode the minor appears in. So the door is open at the point where openness costs nothing and closed at the point where it would cost a season. The Showcase's public promise of all ages therefore holds where people actually read it, which is at the door.

5.1a THE CONFLICT, FOUND 8 SEPTEMBER 2026, AND IT IS BLOCKING. The TGI Showcase Manifesto v1.0 of 17 June 2026 states the public offer of this planet as "an international music showcase, open to all ages and all genres". Every legal instrument of 8 September 2026 restricts the Platform to 18 and over. Both cannot be true, and the product cannot open until one of them gives way. If all ages is the offer, then everything in 5.2 and 5.3 is required before a single minor submits, and, most consequentially, the perpetual Content, Likeness and Promotion Consent is disaffirmable by every entrant under 18 unless approved by the superior court under Family Code § 6751. An artist who submits at fourteen and becomes significant at twenty-two could withdraw the very permission the House most needs.

5.2 If The Global Ikon rules that minors may enter, Universal Terms Part 2.1 is expressly varied for the Showcase to that extent, and the following are required and none is optional: dual signature by the minor and by a parent or guardian on every document; verified guardian identity; a parental indemnity; COPPA-compliant handling for anyone under 13, noting the amended rule with full compliance from April 2026, its written data-retention policy requirement and its separate parental consent for third-party disclosure; state age-assurance obligations, including the app-store accountability acts effective from January 2026 which impose duties on app developers and not only on app stores; and an acceptance that a minor's contract is voidable and may be disaffirmed unless approved by the superior court under California Family Code § 6751.

5.3 No option, exclusivity or commission is ever taken from a minor without court approval, and any prize of real value requires a Coogan blocked trust account under Family Code § 6752(b) and a work permit where applicable.

Participant Welfare

6.1 The Showcase puts named people in front of an audience and then does not select some of them. The House treats that as an act with consequences.

6.2 The protocol, adopted voluntarily and documented: a pre-entry risk note; moderated comments on every performance surface, with the ability to close comments on any entry; a named welfare contact; signposted mental-health resources; a check-in after elimination or non-selection; and no public ranking of losers.
