Parent or Guardian Submission Consent

In plain words, for the parent or guardian

Your child wants to send us their music. Here is exactly what happens to it.

We listen to it. That is all. A small internal team assesses it for the Showcase. It is not published, not posted, not streamed on our site, not shown to an audience and not used in any advertising or promotion of any kind.

We do not take any rights in it. Not ownership, not a licence, not a share, not now and not later. The songs stay your child's. The recordings stay your child's. If your child records a cover of somebody else's song, that does not become our problem or yours, because we are not publishing it.

We ask for a link, not a file. The music stays where your child already put it, on their own YouTube, SoundCloud or Instagram. We do not hold a copy and we cannot do anything with it that they cannot undo themselves by taking their own post down.

We hold some information about your child, and you should know what: their name, their date of birth, the country they are in, the link they sent, your contact details as the parent or guardian, and our own notes from assessing it. That is it. It is kept so we can run a fair assessment and show we ran one.

Nothing is charged. Ever. Not to submit, not to be assessed, not to be selected. We do not take money from artists.

We cannot promise anything. Not a place, not a response by any particular date, not a career. Most submissions do not go forward, and that is true of everyone who sends us anything, at any age.

Taking part on camera is 18 and over for this first season. If your child is selected and is under 18, we will tell you honestly that they cannot appear in the production yet, and why. The assessment is the same, and being under 18 does not weigh against them in it. What changes is only whether they can be filmed for this season.

You can pull it back at any time, and it takes one email. Write to us and we delete the record and stop the assessment. You do not have to give a reason.

The consent

2.1 Who signs. A parent or legal guardian of the entrant, being an adult with authority to consent on the entrant's behalf.

2.2 What is consented to. That the entrant may submit a link to their material to TGI, and that TGI may receive, access, review, assess, discuss internally, score and record its assessment of that material, and may retain the submission record for the period at 4.3.

2.3 What is NOT consented to, and what TGI does not ask for. No licence, no assignment, no ownership, no option, no right of first refusal, and no right to publish, broadcast, stream, embed, distribute, adapt or promote the material or any part of it. TGI takes no rights in Submitted Material and none are granted here.

2.4 The entrant's persona. The Content, Likeness and Promotion Consent does not apply to an entrant under 18 and is not taken by this document. TGI does not use the entrant's name, image, voice or likeness in any promotion, and does not identify them publicly as an entrant.

2.5 If the entrant is selected. TGI may contact the parent or guardian to say so. Nothing further happens without a separate written agreement, and for on-camera participation in season one that agreement is not available to a person under 18. If AM later opens on-camera participation to minors, the additional machinery is listed at Production Agreement 10.3 and none of it is optional.

What the parent or guardian confirms

3.1 That they are the entrant's parent or legal guardian and are authorised to give this consent.

3.2 That the entrant is the person named, and that the date of birth given is correct.

3.3 That the entrant made the material, or has the right to submit it, and that submitting it to TGI breaks no agreement the entrant is under. A cover recording is fine. A track already exclusively licensed elsewhere may not be, and that is a question for the family, not for TGI.

3.4 That the information given is true, accurate and not misleading.

3.5 The indemnity, and it is deliberately narrow. The parent or guardian indemnifies TGI against loss arising from a breach of 3.1 to 3.4, meaning from something untrue that they told TGI. It does not extend to anything else, and it is capped at amount.

3.6 What TGI gives back. TGI confirms that it takes no rights in the material, does not publish it, does not use the entrant's persona, and charges nothing. The obligations run both ways and are stated on the same page.

Data, and the under-13 question

4.1 What is held. Entrant name, date of birth, country, the submission link, the parent or guardian's name and contact details, and TGI's internal assessment notes.

4.2 Why. To run and evidence a fair assessment, and to contact the parent or guardian.

4.3 For how long. Retention period from the close of the assessment, then deleted, except where a record must be kept to establish that consent was given, which is kept for that purpose alone.

4.4 Withdrawal. On written request to address, TGI stops the assessment and deletes the record, save as at 4.3. No reason is required and nothing is asked in return.

4.5 Entrants under 13. This is a build requirement and not a drafting one. Where an entrant is under 13, the sign-up flow must obtain verifiable parental consent to the standard the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act requires. A tick box and a typed parent's name do not satisfy it. Counsel and build to settle the method before under-13 entry opens: the common routes are a signed form returned by post, email or upload, a small refundable card charge, or a video call. Until one is built and live, the entry flow declines entrants under 13 rather than collecting their data on an insufficient consent.

4.6 Outside the United States. Where the entrant is in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, the age of digital consent is set by national law and ranges from 13 to 16. The flow applies the higher of the local threshold and TGI's own, per country.

How it is taken

5.1 As its own screen and its own acceptance, not folded into the entrant's own sign-up, and not bundled with the adult Consent.

5.2 Signed or accepted by the parent or guardian in their own name, with the entrant's date of birth captured first so that the flow knows which path to run.

5.3 With the assent record logged to the standard at Universal Terms § 20: what was shown, when, and what was accepted.

5.4 With a copy sent to the parent or guardian by email at the moment of acceptance, so there is a record outside TGI's own systems.
